What happens when I first get in touch?
The first thing we do is arrange a time to have a longer chat over the phone. It may take about 20 minutes and is free of charge and without obligation (that is, there’s no obligation to have any more sessions after that). This 20 minute conversation gives you the chance to tell us what you’re hoping for from the coaching, and for us to give you an idea of how we might set about working together and your preference of coach. What happens at the first full session?
The first session is an overview of the issue you’re bringing to coaching, in the context of your whole life as it presently is. The first session can last an hour or more. I guarantee (that’s 100% money back if we are not right!) that you will end that session rearing to go, full of ideas for the changes you can make and how you can get things moving right away. You may be asked to complete a Life Wheel exercise to focus your thoughts and actions.
How soon will I start to notice the changes?
Straight away. Often, before the first official session. In fact, I’ll go further, often our clients report changes immediately after or even during our initial 20-minute chat. The very fact that you’ve take the first step and can se a way forward is enough to make you feel better and more optimistic about the future. And then, as long as you’re willing to take action we guarantee your life will change. Within days of the first session, you’ll be doing things differently, facing up to to things, spotting new possibilities and embracing the uncertainties of life.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies from client to client. It averages out at 4-6 sessions is usual; sometimes one or two sessions does the trick, some clients like to book an ongoing monthly conversation to keep them on track.
What’s the best length for a coaching session?
We have found that 45 minutes is a good length. Some clients prefer to book hour-long sessions. Once things moving you may even want to opt for twenty or thirty minutes, just to touch base and make sure you’re focused on where you want to be and address any issues that have arisen.
So what will it cost me and how will I pay?
Coaching with us costs £1 a minute. Your first session will be an hour long and after that we can decide with you the length of sessions wanted, usually 30-45 mins up to an hour. After a short period of coaching you may need as little as 20 minutes per session. The cost includes email support inbetween times. We ask for payment in advance of sessions. You can pay by cheque or bank transfer. There is no formal contract, but we do ask you to sign a Coaching Agreement to clarify our arrangement so we are both clear about our obligations to each other. If cancel a session no less that 48 hours we will refund your fee for that session.
How does the telephone coaching work. Isn't body language important?
You’re right body language does provide useful feedback, but we find that within a few minutes of talking with someone we can gauge a huge amount from the pitch, speed and tone of voice. The ears do the work that my eyes would do if we were in the same room as you. You’ll soon find that the same thing happens for you – in fact the conversations can be so real and vivid you might well forget the conversation took place over the phone at all. It will feel like we were in the same room. About 60% of our clients work with us by phone. What's important is that you are in a room where you will not be disturbed or distracted.
What advantages are there to working by phone?
Working by phone means that appointments can be made whatever your schedule and location. An added bonus is that you avoid the time and costs associated with travelling to appointments. Because we work by phone we have been able to coach people from all over the UK. Those clients who can reach us do enjoy coming to our cottage as the environment is calm and conducive to meditation sessions. However, our experience of working flexibly is that clients quickly feel at ease, the conversation is productive real progress can be made in a short time.
When are you available for coaching?
Because there are two of us we can be quite flexible. We are generally available for sessions from Monday to Thursday, 9 to 5. We recognise that with work, travel and family commiments we can offer Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings with the latest appointment at 7 p.m. In exceptional circumstances we are willing to consider Saturday mormings. Work-Life balance must always be an important consideration.
Do you have a Code of Practice or ethical framework?
Yes, we are affiliated to the Association of Coaching and follow their Code of Practice.

What if I live locally?
Clients who live near our home in Worcestershire may wish to opt for face-to-face sessions in our lovely thatched cottage and comfortable Summer House. Some of our clients are prepared to travel and spend time with us in breakfast sessoions or after work.
