Background
More about The Change Zone
This is the website of Life Leadership Coach, Steve Trivett. I work mainly with professional people who are leading change at work or in their own lives. In these challenging times you may be facing some form of 'breakdown' in the flow of how you have made your life work for years. It may be a skill, behaviour or attitude that is not working as it should. There is then a sudden realisation that facts have to be faced and the thought of being in the world in a different way suddenly becomes more of an exciting possibility than a feeling of dread.
When this happens you need to take the lead role in your own life. This can be scary, of course, you are having to embrace uncertainty and that takes courage. This is when the support of an ontological coach can make all the difference. You can practice a new narrative, where you are more present and powerful in your body and able to develop a high energy mood states. You learn to change through powerful observation and action to adopt a new way of being and doing.
A Life Leadership Coach knows how to lift your mood, align it with a confident body posture and positive language. This makes real and sustainable change more likely because you can see the change in you and its impact on other people. Change requires you to be a leader and make promises and set goals that you are determined to make work.
Just call me for an informal chat and see if I can help you resolve your dilemmas and achieve your potential as a professional person and as a human being. If you want to learn more about change processes then feel free to browse the website.
Call me now on 01386-861-841 or direct on 0786-731-231 or just send me an email and I will get in touch.
Sincerely yours.
Steve

What makes me tick ?
I established The Change Zone in 2000 as a free web knowledge base for agents of change, be they managers, leaders, service providers, students and coaches. It promoted ontological and dynamic approaches to leadership and change, addressing the challenges presented by an increasing complex and rapidly evolving world. This was my bread and butter as an Organisation Development Consultant and Change Coach working on large scale corporate change programmes that focused on quality, service improvement, culture, performance and leadership. But, organisations don't change unless people do and that's my expertise.
I could see in my colleagues and customers how a life and work without meaning or purpose was a high price for the human spirit to pay. Living in a mood of resentment, resignation and anxiety was making professional managers and service directors joyless, often not in the best of health and unable to findjob satisfaction or be an inspiration for others. I also saw how changing their 'way of being' could actually transform their lives, so I developed my ontological coaching skills and become an NLP Master Practitioner. This way I can help others take leadership for their own lives and transform them as a result. This remains my goal as I continue to offer my support to fellow professionals as a Life Leadership Coach. I can help you find the commitment and courage to take the difficult decisions and actions to resolve dilemmas and improve yourperformance.
I am now supported in this work by my wife Pat and two trusted Associates Sara and Marian. Together we have spent almost all of our working lives creating learning environments capable of fostering confidence, genuinenesss, respect for others, creativity, spirit, commitment, cooperation and talent. I believe that these are the human qualities required for personal fulfillment and professional success. I have found that the qualities of a leader are the qualities of a good human being, someone who can help others learn and grow as people.
As well as promoting my coaching services, I am turning the website into an online learning resource for clients and programme participants. It will therefore be of interest to people who are serious about seeing things from different perspectives and living more consciously. In this way I plan to create space for thinking, making new connections and taking a leadership role in life. These are invaluable skills for anyone who wants to lead change in a complex world.
What's my vision ?
In our 24/7 world new skills are needed. The need to find solutions to dilemmas, to thrive on uncertainty and continuous change, to stay centred through adversity, to maintain networks of social and business relationships, to live with a clear moral purpose and engage in non-violent communication. You may not want your peers or your boss to know what you are struggling with, such as your work-life balance, your health or sense of wellbeing, your family traumas or your financial pressures, even performance improvement challenges. The Change Zone offers you people you can trust and confide in, who will always be 'on-your-side' and offer practical help as well as emotional support as and when you need it. We do not charge blue chip company prices, but we do provide blue chip services at times and prices you will be happy with.
My Associates and I take our responsibilities as personal and professional coaches very seriously, always seeking permission to engage you in conversations to explore your thinking, body state, moods, emotions and relationships. We listen and care deeply about you as a person. We work to build a quality relationships with you so we can explore new ways of 'being' as well as ways of 'doing'. The changes you make are then more likely to stick. Change becomes a life leadership issue because it demands your integrity, accountability, a positive attitude, courage and commitment. If you really want to change we will help you develop these skills, as without them we have observed that the change you want will not happen.
This ability to reflect critically while engaged in action and reflecting on action is what makes our coaching powerful and our clients successful in achieving the changes they want to see. We always have your best interests at heart. We do not give direction, the decisions are yours, but we will help you to make good ones. You know best what you want from us. We will either say we can help or no if what you are seeking is beyond our competence. If we agree to help you must agree to practice things that will take you from where you are now to a new ' way of being ' that will deliver your goals.
We realise also that feelings can get in the way of thinking and doing. As sentient beings the essence of who we are at a deeper level is to love and be loved, to care and be cared for and to live as happily as we can in whatever situation we find ourselves. Our sense of wellbeing is also not just the result of what we do, it is the essence of who we think we are. To be happy we don't have to change ourselves, but we do have to explore our perception of reality (or way of thinking), discover new attitudes (our way of being) and modify our behaviour (or way of doing). They affect our ability to take the 'right action' at the 'right time'.
Current research into human ontology suggests that positive feelings are not enough. They must be linked with doing things that we love and this means knowing how to play to our strengths. When we do these things to serve a cause greater than ourselves, life has more meaning and we live in a world of gratitude and mutual appreciation.
Why do I coach ?
When you are not happy with yourself, your work or your relationships with others, life can feel as if it's 'breaking down'. These are often small emotional or competency breakdowns not mental breakdowns. We coach people because we want to help them deal with these 'breakdowns' like the fear of embarrassment, losing confidence, questioning your worthiness, losing your temper, etc.
I like to help people explore how they know what they know and clarify their life purpose, set achievable goals, access their inner resources and develop strategies to use them to get what they want from life and work. I get great satisfaction from providing Assistance at a Distance through telephone coaching, e-mentoring and online learning services as you get the help as and when you really need it. Face-to-face coaching is moving to the internet, but not everyone has access to the technology and the quality of connection needed to make it work well. We find that telphone conversations linked to email coaching works extremely well for the majority of our clients. If we can find a way to meet, so much the better.
Who do I work with ?
